Crystals for Students

Crystals for Students
As I'm writing this, it is back to school time for my kids. In fact, my oldest is entering into high school. EEEK! lol I am often asked what crystals are good for students of all ages. After all, once we are out of "school" we can still be faced with taking tests for our jobs or even continuing education courses to stay on top of the latest knowledge. So with that, I offer you... crystals for students!

Fluorite is my number 1 favorite crystal for students. First off, due to the rainbow colors, children love this crystal. It is my top recommendation for memory and mental focus. It enhances their learning and ability to retain the knowledge that they have learned. Fluorite is known as the "Stone of Discernment and Aptitude" as it works with you to organizes and process new information as well as to bring mental clarity and focus.

Last Spring, during the end of the school year statewide testing, my 9 year old son came up to me and told me he felt he needed a little extra help during his testing. He took his small Fluorite skull in a bag to school with him. He would come home and tell me how much his crystal helped him and that he felt better and more confident with the test. He simply kept his crystal in his pocket. Obviously, the crystal does not have to be a skull. This just happened to be the crystal that he picked as his own "study buddy". My 14 year old son prefers Clear Quartz, but more on that crystal later.

In addition to boosting memory and mental focus, Fluorite also enhances the immune system and helps your body to combat viruses such as the cold and flu. As we know, kids can pick up germs so easily in schools and are often coming home with a cold. Let Fluorite help them fight off those viruses to stay healthy and mentally ready to learn.

Fluorite is a relatively soft crystal. It can break if it is dropped. Please keep this in mind, especially if you have younger children that you have working with crystals. As with all crystals, keep in mind your child's age and behavior. If they are young and prone to put things in their mouth, then wait until they are older and/or make sure they have a larger crystal. Children of ALL ages love crystals. Both of my boys were taught early on that crystals are their friends and to treat them gently with love.

ADDITIONAL CRYSTALS FOR MEMORY AND MENTAL FOCUS:
Crystals for Mental Focus and ClarityCrystals for MemoryAs mentioned previously mentioned, Clear Quartz is another great crystal for students. Clear Quartz is the most versatile crystal. It can be programmed for any intent and brings clarity to the mind. Quartz is one of the most abundant minerals on the planet, which makes very easy to obtain at very reasonable prices. It is the perfect starter crystal. For the student purposes, it doesn't matter if the crystal is tumbled, raw, or a point. Simply choose the one that draws your attention or let the student in your life pick out their own. Clear Quartz often contains internal rainbows that bring an added beauty and joy to the person carrying this crystal.

ADDITIONAL CRYSTALS FOR STUDENTS:
Below are even more crystals that are beneficial for students. Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg. As we all know, students need more than just help with memory and mental focus. It is also important for them to have confidence in themselves, the ability to speak their truth, and the ability to be calm during times of stress. That's why I have pulled together my top 5 favorite crystals for students that assist with a blend of these different attributes. These crystals include Fluorite, Clear Quartz, Citrine, Rhodonite, and Turquoise. View the images below for even more wonderful and helpful crystal tips for you or the students in your life.

Crystals for House Protection

Naturally we want our home to feel the best that it can. That means protecting it, and you, from outside negative influences and energies.

SAGE: For starters, sage the house. Follow your intuition on when to do this, however I highly recommend it when you are moving into a new place, after any negative interactions (like a fight), or if someone has come around that has left that "yuck" vibe behind. You will know when your house needs it. Open the windows and sage around each room so that any negative energies can leave through the window. I personally start at the door of the room and work my way clockwise. Do whatever works for you. You can use incense for the same purpose. Also there is a sage smudge spray if you cannot handle the smoke from sage or incense.
(I will be offering the sage spray soon. If you are interested, email me to let me know and I will email you when it is available.)

CRYSTALS: For general house protection from negative energies, I highly recommend Black Tourmaline. It is among one of the most protective and grounding crystals. It protects against all forms of negative energies, including electromagnetic smog (EMF), and geopathic stress. You can place this crystal either on the corners of your property or inside of your house. Either way will work just fine.

I also recommend Selenite, also placed in the main corners of your house. Selenite needs to be place inside, though, as it is a very soft and fragile crystal that can be damaged and even dissolved in water. Selenite is protective and brings about a calming, angelic quality into the home. It promotes a peaceful atmosphere. Think of Black Tourmaline as being a protective shield and Selenite the guardian angels.

Rose Quartz is another crystal that I like to put in the main rooms where people are at the most, like the Living Room. Simply place a chunk of Rose Quartz in the room to attract calming, loving, peaceful energy.

GRID THE HOUSE: As mentioned, you will place Black Tourmaline and Selenite in each of the main corners of your home. If you feed a room needs extra protection you can also grid individual rooms. Typically with grids you would energetically link the crystals together with a wand while stating your affirmation. Obviously, when you are gridding your house, that is easier said than done. (Pesky walls!) Instead I'd suggest placing your crystals and state your affirmation while placing them.

A suggestion for an affirmation, "This home and everyone within are divinely protected at all times." — Use whatever affirmation you prefer.

Once the crystals have been put into place, sit approximately in the middle of your house so you are as close to being in the middle of your house grid as possible. Relax and focus your energy. Visualize the crystals being connected energetically. You can also visualize a white or golden protective, energetic shield around your house that is emanating from the crystals.

Crystals for the Chakras

I recently had some people plaguing my Crystal Guidance Facebook fan page. One lady was puzzled how I would suggest a blue or purple crystals (generally Third Eye) with the red Root chakra. While it was an excellent question, I choose not to answer it since she was just attempting to cause problems. (In another location she proceeded to call me a stupid bitch that I didn't know what I was talking about. But that's a whole other story.) Yes, the chakras have a primary color and a great general suggestion is to balance that chakra you can use a coordinating color. However, that is not a strict rule. You can use any color you want on any chakra. In fact, if a chakra is over-active (too much energy) then you want to use a complimentary color. In this case, too much Root energy you would use blue.

An example for this is anger. Anger is related to the Root chakra (red). When you think of anger you even think of the color red. However, red is a very active color. More red energy will not help you to calm anger. In fact, it can have the opposite effect. In this case you would want to go for a calming color. Blue Lace Agate, a light blue color, is an excellent one for calming anger. (See more crystal suggestions for calming anger.)

The most important thing is for you to follow your intuition on what works for you. You do not have to match the chakra color with the crystal color. It's not necessary. However, it is a great place to start if you are trying to get an idea of the basics. Follow what works best for you.

I have created a chakra information page on Crystal Guidance. It has a photo of crystals that are related to each of the specific chakras plus a little info on each of the 7 main chakras plus 3 of the transpersonal chakras.

Attract Prosperity and Abundance with Crystals

One of the most common things that I see asked about in readings and also crystal requests is money. In this economy so many of us are hurting. The following article will offer some law of attraction and crystal tips to help you bring more prosperity into your life.

• Prosperity and Abundance Crystals: You can keep these crystals with you in your purse/wallet, cash drawer of your business, or in the Wealth corner of your house, which is the farthest left corner from your front door.

My top favorite crystal for bringing in wealth and abundance is Citrine. It is known as the Merchant's Stone. I personally have Citrine, Green Aventurine, and Tiger's Eye in my Wealth corner plus a small Citrine in my purse. I add the Green Aventurine and Tiger's Eye as they both can boost prosperity but also they are good luck stones.

Recommended Prosperity Crystals — Citrine, Moss Agate, Ruby, or Jade. (Click the photo for more.) Recommended Good Luck Crystals — Tiger's Eye, Green Aventurine, Jade, or Sunstone.

• Abundance Checks: This is a simple tip and it works based upon the Law of Attraction.

• When to do it: Every New Moon. • Where to keep it: In your wallet/purse or in the Wealth corner of your home. (See photo on right.) • How to make the check: You can use a check from your checkbook or even an old account that you no longer use. You can print out a check, which I have created one for you. Or you can draw your own. • What to do with the previous month's check: You can either burn the check or bury it. This releases that energy back into the Universe. You don't want to just throw away or shred the old abundance check. That's like throwing away money!

• Creating Your Abundance Check: You can print out one of the checks that I have created for you to use, you can draw your own, or you can use one from your bank account.

Address: In the upper left hand corner put your name and address just like you would see on a real check.
Date: Fill in the date that you are writing the check. You will want to do this on the NEW Moon. Here is a lunar calendar to help you.
Pay to the Order of... Put your full name.
Amount section is where you want to put an amount that is abundant but reasonable. $1,000,000.00 might be awesome, but it is not reasonable. If your monthly income is usually around $2,000 then go ahead and make your check out for $3,000. Make it an amount that you can truly visualize receiving over the next 30 days.
For section is where you can write "paid in full" or "limitless abundance". Put whatever feels right to you.
Signature section is where you can either sign your name, write "Law of Abundance" or from the "Universe" in this section.

After you create your abundance check you will want to sit and hold the check while you visualize that money coming into your life. See yourself paying off all of your bills with money still left in your bank account. Feel what it would feel like to do this and to have that money come into your life. The more energy and emotion you put into this the better it will work. Truly believe that this money will come to you... and it will!

Side Note: Are you curious why I picked "8888" as the check number? In Numerology 8 represents business, finances, material wealth, and success. Plus, if you turn it sideways it is the infinity symbol. We all want infinite prosperity, right? The number 4 represents the foundation on which we will build that prosperity and the stability that will attract into our lives.

You can find more information about the abundance checks on the website, Law of Abundance Living.

My Story and Experience with the Abundance Checks:
I often saw some of my local friends post on Facebook about an abundance check. After seeing this posted month after month I decided to give it a try. In that first month I did see an increase in my income of my small at-home business. My hubby wasn't too sure what to think and didn't really believe in it, but he decided to write out a check the following month. It worked again! He felt it was still just a coincidence at this point. Then we forgot to do it the next month. Work slowed down for him and he started asking me when the next "check day" would be. He's a believer now and says he won't forget to write out a his abundance check. Money has flowed to us in various ways. For me, more of my Crystal Guidance Oracle decks and my crystal jewelry have sold. For hubby he was offered extra hours at work and helped out a friend which paid him for the work he did. The interesting one came when a lady hit hubby's truck. Her insurance company paid us $1000 to cover the auto body repairs for the broken tail light and a new paint job. Hubby fixed the tail light for $40 and didn't bother worrying about the paint. The rest we were able to pocket to help save up for a new-to-us car. You never know where the money may flow in from, but it will make its way to you.

Gem Elixirs - Crystal Essence Water

Gem Elixirs are a great way to work with your crystals in a convenient way that does not require you to carry the crystal with you. This can come in handy for crystals that are small or expensive stones. You can mix and match your gem elixirs to create your perfect blend. This article will be a basic "how to" for creating your elixirs.

• How It Works: Water is highly programmable. (Think Dr. Emoto.) It takes on the vibrational frequency of the crystals. The crystal essence is then taken like a homeopathic remedy. You can put drops under your tongue, add drops to your water or anything that you add water to, add it to your bath, rub it on your body, create gem sprays, etc.

• Getting Started — What You Need:
Glass container. I prefer using canning jars. They are inexpensive and are perfect for storing the gem elixirs once they have been created. Glass is always preferred.
Natural spring water or distilled water.
Your crystals. Tumbled crystals are preferred since you do not have to worry about any parts breaking off. Also be sure to check the crystal caution list to see if the crystal is safe to put into water. If not, use the indirect method mentioned below.
Cheese cloth. This is handy for placing on top of the jar to prevent anything from falling or landing in the water. It is reusable. You can find it at places such as a craft store.
Vodka, brandy, or cider vinegar. This will help to preserve your gem elixir if you plan on storing it for longer than 1 week.
Dosage bottle with eye dropper. A dark colored dosage bottles are perfect for putting your mother batch into (original gem water plus the alcohol preservative). For a gem essence spray you will need a glass spray bottle.
Intention - Have in mind what it is you are wanting to create. You can even write down an affirmation and tape it onto your jar.

• Picking Crystals:
The most ideal way of creating a gem elixir is by using 1 crystal type. This way you can later combine up to 3 different elixirs to create your perfect healing combination. (Like combining Amethyst, Rose Quartz, and Blue Lace Agate for calming.) However, if you decide to add more than 1 crystal for your gem elixir, choose crystals that have a similar purpose or energy. For example, the crystals in my above picture are Carnelian and Citrine. Both are wonderful crystals for boosting energy and confidence. This was the purpose of the elixir that I created. Remember to check the crystal caution list to see if you can put your crystal in the water or if you have to use the indirect method.

Choose 1-3 types crystals for your elixir. The more crystals that you add the more "crystal chaos" you create, so it is advised to stick to 3 or less. You want to keep it simple and to the point of what you are hoping to achieve and not be overwhelmed with different crystal energies. You can add as many of the same type of crystal as you would like. For example, if you are creating an elixir from Fluorite, you can put as many Fluorites as you'd like in the container.

• Making Your Gem Elixir:
Now that you have everything ready to go start by cleansing your crystals both physically and energetically. Fill your glass half way full with your spring or distilled water. Gently add your crystals into the glass. Cover your glass with the cheese cloth and take it outside to "cook".

Take advantage of the strong prana energy the Sun provides. Place your gem elixir outside for 2-4 hours in the morning. Before noon is when the sun's energy is the strongest. This will help to amplify the effects of the water's entrainment with the crystals. Alternatively, you can place the crystals out in the Full Moon light if you prefer. If you cannot put your crystals outside then placing them on a windowsill will be fine. Try to put it where it will have direct sunlight. I also like to surround my elixir jar with Clear Quartz points. Typically I use 6 of them pointed inward. You don't have to do this. I just like the extra boost that it offers.

Indirect Method: There are a lot of crystals that are toxic and not safe for us to ingest. Check the crystal caution list to make sure. If in doubt, go the indirect method. For this you will need a second glass jar that is smaller than your first one. Place your crystals inside of the smaller jar and then place that inside your glass that contains the water. Follow the rest of the directions. This will keep the crystals separate from the water but still allow the water to absorb the energy vibrations from the crystals.

Once you bring your gem elixir back inside, remove the crystals. Add your preservative (vodka, brandy, or cider vinegar). I've read that a 1:1 (50/50) ratio is good but I've seen other references say 1:10 (preservative to gem elixir). I personally work with either the 1:1 ratio or 1:2. In my 6 oz canning jar that is 2oz alcohol to 4oz gem water. This creates what is called your Mother Batch. From this mother batch you can add drops of your gem elixir into your water, bath, cooking, absolutely anything! The law of homeopathy states that the more you dilute the mother batch the more the energy intensifies. Amazing! This makes your gem elixir last SO long.

Don't forget to label your elixir with what crystal(s) you used and when you created it. You are now ready to start working with your gem elixir.

• Dosage — How much do I need to take?
Use your pendulum to see how much to take and how often. Taking a few drops several times a day is more effective than a lot of the elixir only once a day. For me, I typically take 7 drops 3 times a day. I add them to my drinking water and sip on it throughout the day.

How to check the dosage with your pendulum: You can use a dowsing chart like the one I have provided for you on the right. Start with asking how many times a day you should take your gem elixir. Then proceed to ask how many drops you need to take. Your pendulum will swing to the number that answers your question. Alternatively, you can simply hold the pendulum over you hand (the one that's not holding the pendulum) and ask it, "Do I need to take 3 drops?" then wait for a yes or no answer. Make your way through the numbers until you receive a "yes" answer. Repeat this with how many times a day you need to take these drops.

• Add a Crystal to Your Glass and Go:
You can simply add a crystal into your glass of water that you are drinking out of. Then just keep refilling with water. I often do this with Fluorite or Carnelian. As always, make sure your crystal is safe to do this with and that it is physically and energetically cleansed first.

Cleansing Crystals with the Full Moon

My ultra favorite way of energetically cleansing crystals is with the lunar energy of the Full Moon. I often get asked a lot of questions when it comes to cleansing or re-tuning crystals in the moonlight, so I'm going to answer them all right here in 1 place for you! For starters, here is a lunar calendar so you can see all of the upcoming Full Moons.

• Why do you need to cleanse the crystals?
When I use the word "cleanse" it means an energetic cleansing, not a physical one. Another way to look at it is a re-tuning of the crystal's energy. When we work with a crystal it can absorb some of the negative energy and change its vibrational frequency. It is much like playing a guitar. After you have played it for a while you need to re-tune it to get it back into perfect playing order. The same goes for the crystals. After you have worked with them you want to help them get their energy and vibrational frequency back to its original perfect state.

• How often do you need to cleanse crystals?
This is something you use your intuition on and what feels right to you. If it is a crystal you work with often, then put it out at every Full Moon. On the flip side of that, if you have crystals that typically are not worked with then once or twice a year should be sufficient. If you feel your crystal needs cleansing between the full moons then there are other cleansing methods available that you can do anytime.

• Are there any crystals that shouldn't go in the moonlight?
No. This is the one method that is safe for ALL crystals. That is why it is my favorite cleansing method. The only thing you need to watch out for is if it is going to rain or not. Some crystals, such as Selenite, are not safe to be out in the rain. They are the same crystals that should avoid water.

• What if I forget to put them out on the full moon?
Don't worry if you can't put them out on the day of the full moon or if you forget that day. The lunar energy is at its strongest for 3 days. The day before, the day of the full moon, and the day after. You can put them out any of those 3 days. You do not have to put them out for all 3 days. One night is plenty. However, if you feel your crystals need more cleansing or simply because you feel they are loving the moonlight, then go ahead and put them out all 3 nights. This is totally up to you.

• What time do I need to put them outside?
Anytime after it gets dark is the perfect time. Dusk, when the sun is setting is ok too. This way the crystals that should avoid sunlight, such as Amethyst, are not put out until the sun has gone down.

 • When do I bring the crystals inside and do I need to do anything special with them?
Bring them inside in the morning. You do not have to have them outside for any set length of time. There are some crystals that can eventually fade if left in direct sunlight. You do not need to do anything special to handle them while bringing them inside. Just bring them on in and put them in their normal homes around your house.

 • What if I can't put them outside? Will they still get cleansed if I put them on my window ledge?
That is ok if you can't put them outside. You can put them in front of your window. I usually do this with some of my jewelry or crystals like Selenite that I do not like to leave outside. If you have a window that moonlight can come into, I feel that is the best. However, if you can't do that, don't worry, any window will do. The energy is all around us. It won't be as strong as it would be outside, but you work with what you have.

• It is cloudy or raining. I can't see the moon. Will my crystals still be cleansed? Does this effect the moon's energy?
Regardless if we can see the moon or not, the energy is still there and is still effecting us and the planet. Clouds do not effect the moon's energy. It is still there and still shining, even though the clouds are in the way of us seeing it. If it is raining, just make sure that you put out crystals that are ok to get wet. For example, keep Selenite and Malachite inside because the rain will damage them. Crystals like the Quartz family (Clear Quartz, Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Citrine, Smoky Quartz) are all safe to be outside in the rain. You might want to give them a little quick rinse under running tap water when they come in, though, to cleanse them of anything the rain might have left on them.

• Do I need to put them on or in anything special?
No. You can put them on a tray, in a box, or just carry them outside. Whatever way works best for you. I have done it all! I often just carry my plastic bead boxes I use to hold my crystals and put those outside. You can leave them closed or open them. I personally prefer to open the boxes. I have put them out in small wooden trays or even a larger "breakfast in bed" tray. I also have used a small mirror before. This one I love for my favorite pieces because I feel it helps to amplify the energies. It is by no means necessary, though.

• Can I put my crystal jewelry outside to be cleansed?
Yes, you sure can. In fact, I recommend it. The crystals I cleanse and charge by the moonlight the most are my pendants and bracelets that I wear all of the time. Make sure they are in something that will keep them safe like a bowl, a tray with sides, or even keep them inside on your window ledge.

Aura Quartz Family

This post was inspired by my friend, Andy from Of Divine Essence. Plus you know I love any excuse to show off my pretties! I couldn't play 'show and tell' without giving you guys more information about each crystal, so listed below are some of the properties for the most common of the Aura Quartz crystals.

The Aura Quartz family is made up of stunning, high vibration crystals. They are all man-enhanced. An Aura Quartz is a Clear Quartz crystal that is heat treated in a vacuum and infused with the vapors of specific metals, which created a permanent bonding on the surface of the Quartz. This merges the properties of the metal used with the properties of Quartz. Please note that Danburite is also now becoming enhanced in this way as well. The “Aura” portion of these crystal’s names was given due to the subtle flashes of iridescent rainbow colors on Quartz.

Angel Aura (also known as Opal Aura) is bonded with Platinum and Silver. It is a tranquil and uplifting crystal much like a rainbow. It cleanses the aura and helps to balance all of the chakras. Angel Aura can assist you in reaching a deeper meditative state as well as connecting with Angels and spirit guides. It brings you into union with the Divine and cosmic consciousness.
Chakras: Crown and Higher Crown

Aqua Aura is bonded with Gold. This crystal holds many similar properties to Aquamarine. It works with the Throat and Third Eye chakras to allow you to communicate your highest truth and speak from the heart. Aqua Aura also increases psychic skills and protects you against psychic or psychological attacks. As with the other Aura Quartzes, Aqua Aura cleanses the aura. It also releases any stress from the auric body and repairs any holes in your aura. Work with Aqua Aura with other crystals to enhance their healing properties.
Chakras: Throat, Third Eye, Crown, and Higher Crown

Champagne Aura (also known as Smokey Aura) is bonded with Gold and Indium. Connecting the Sacral up to the Crown, Champagne Aura helps to ground spiritual ideas into physical reality. Its grounding and protective energies can be used to gently dissolve negative energies and emotional blocks, as well as provide protection from forces that are present in the Ethereal Realm.
Chakras: Sacral, Solar Plexus, and Crown

Rose Aura (similar to Ruby Aura, only lighter in color) is bonded with Platinum. It has a powerful connection to universal love and fills you with unconditional love. This imbues the whole body with love and transmutes any deeply held doubts about self-worth.
Chakras: Root, Heart, and Higher Crown

Tangerine Aura (also known as Melon Aura) is bonded with Gold and Iron Oxide. This crystal has an energy that is very similar to Tangerine Quartz. Many of the properties are the same between these two crystals. Tangerine Aura has a strong connection to the Sacral chakra, removing any creativity or sexual blockages and allows these energies to flow freely. It can also assist someone who is trying to overcome self-esteem issues. Tangerine Aura grounds spiritual vision and manifests it into your everyday life.
Chakras: Root, Sacral, and Solar Plexus

Tanzine Aura (also known as Indigo Aura, Tanzan Aura, or Celestial Aura) is bonded with Gold, Indium, and Niobium. It has similar energies to Tanzanite. In fact, it is named after Tanzanite due to their similar color. This crystal is wonderful for Indigo children or adults. This includes ADD and ADHD children that are very often Indigos. Tanzine Aura connects with the higher chakras and aids in communicating psychic visions or dreams. It is the perfect crystal for intuitives, light workers, mediums, channelers, readers, and shamans as stimulates psychic abilities and links together the Third Eye and Crown chakras so that they can work as one. Tanzine Aura can facilitate communication with the spirit world, angels, and other-worldly beings.
Chakras: Throat, Third Eye, Crown, and Higher Crown

Titanium Aura (also known as Rainbow Aura) is bonded with Titanium. Due to its color, Titanium Aura energizes the entire chakra system, as well as the physical body. It is stimulating to the auric field and meridians and infuses the aura with the rainbow spectrum of light. It increases energy, vitality, and mental awareness. It can help you to feel grounded, centered, and energized all at the same time. It is beneficial for all relationships, especially dysfunctional ones as it brings insight about the relationship and aids you in releasing negative emotions.
Chakras: All

Daily Crystal Card Readings on Facebook

I realized that I don't use the blog very much. I'd love to change that, but the fact is I use Facebook more. At least for the time being. For the last 20 days I have been posting a Crystal Card of the Day. Basically, I choose one of my 8 crystal oracle decks and draw a card for that day. The daily post typically includes:
• Photo of the crystal.
• Divination message for the crystal. Sometimes I add an additional message if I am guided to.
• Positive affirmation that correlates with the message of the day.
• Chakras related to that crystal.
• The website the photo is from and the deck I worked with for that day.

Since it is posted as a photo, you can see the past daily readings by looking in the photos section. It is my hope that these daily messages will help at least a few people out there. For me personally it has been wonderful connecting more with the crystals through the cards and sharing that loving energy with all of you.
